SoFlo Shakers: Nick "The Food-E" Pena
According to the Google, the term FOODIE refers to a person with a particular interest in food. I know what you're thinking, who doesn't have a particular interest in food?! The wave of Influencer Marketing that has taken over has made the term foodie so much more than just a person who is stoked on some good food. These foodies have taken their love for food a step further. They have developed content, taken amazing pictures and shared their experiences with the masses.
Instagram is full of foodies - you probably follow a few. They post pictures of eclectic dishes and specialty cocktails that literally have your mouth watering. As we started to plan our Miami launch, we knew that, logically, our first step needed to be to connect to some of the top Influencers in the area. We were fortunate to connect with Nick Pena - the voice behind The Food-E.
In October of 2011, The Food-E was born. The blog focuses on food, cocktails, lifestyle, events and so much more. With over 20K followers on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, The Food-E quickly became one of the most well known foodie accounts in South Florida. Named by Ocean Drive as one of "Miami's Best Foodie Instagram Accounts to Follow", Nick has continued to grow his following and delight his followers with fresh content featuring some of Miami's best eateries and experiences.
Partnering with Brands like Bonefish Grill, Captain Morgan, Hilton and Shake Shack is enough to have you impressed with the Brand Nick has built, but what about what makes him different from all the other foodies out there? According to fellow Miami foodie The Plastic Spoon, "The Food-E is one of those unique Miami food blogs because it's doing something out of the foodie norm". So what is Nick doing that's "out of the foodie norm"? So glad you asked ...
Whereas you are used to foodie accounts coinciding with images, Nick has created a foodie podcast called WTF? - Where's the Food? This one-of-a-kind food podcast features interviews with local and national chefs, food news, food porn, restaurant recommendations and the scoop on some of your favorite foodies. Oh and did we mention that Nick is kind of a big deal radio producer for Y-100 (iHeart Radio)?! Yeah, this guy does it all. We chatted with Nick about The Food-E and what's next for him ....
FlipperSplash: How did The Food-E start?
Nick Pena: I was on a business trip in LA with some friends and they mentioned how I really loved food and that I should start a food blog. I came back home and thought about it and created The Food-E.
