When FlipperSplash started, we knew the problem we were tying to solve. Make Influencer Marketing manageable and affordable for small businesses. We knew exactly what we needed to build to make that happen and we did it. It's built and we love it. Now to fight a battle we had no idea we would even have - explaining it.
We learned quickly that more often than not, the word Influencer and the words Influencer Marketing scared people. While we have been so fortunate to have some incredible Influencers (who will be called Splashers henceforth), we know that there has been some negative connotation involved in the Influencer Marketing realm as well. Reading articles about Influencers always wanting something for free or not fulfilling their end of the bargain was disheartening, to say the least. We know that Influencer Marketing works and we know that those "bad apples" are few and far between.
So, what now? How do we combat this negative image that has been going viral across the web? How do we talk to a small business without them instantly shutting us down when they hear the words Influencer Marketing.
The first thing we had to do is realize that we are not an Influencer Marketing company. What we do encompasses Influencer Marketing, sure, but it doesn't stop there. We don't want the buzz to stop at one blog post or Instagram story, rather to keep things moving. A ripple effect if you will.
